FOR more than three decades, Jeff Seder, a Harvard-educated lawyer, has spent millions to research and refine the science of picking a champion racehorse. In 1978, Jeff Seder founded Equine Biomechanics and Exercise Physiology (EQB), now one of the USA’s leading talent scout buyers for young unraced thoroughbred horses.
Evidence of the quality of EQB’s data insights can be found in the work they’ve done over the years for owner Ahmet Zayat. The New York Times reported that Zayat had entered American Pharoah, then an unraced yearling, for the sales and that Seder advised the owner “sell your house before you sell this horse.” The horse was bought back at auction by the owner for $300k.
