A major share in Ebor Handicap winner Heartbreak City has been secured by Australian Thoroughbred Bloodstock with the view to running in the Melbourne Cup.
Remaining in training with Tony Martin, the horse will enter quarantine to head out on the second shipment with a one hit agenda aimed at winning Australia’s richest race. “He ticked all the boxes we look for in a horse and we are confident that he will run extremely well for us” said Darren Dance ATB’s managing director. “Tony did such a good job of preparing the horse for the Ebor that we didn’t hesitate in forming a new syndicate with the pre-existing ownership base and leaving Tony at the helm.”
Australian Thoroughbred Bloodstock have raced in the world’s greatest staying race in the past, having gone close with Jakkalberry and Dandino and under advisement from bloodstock agent Chris Blomeley saw similar traits in Heartbreak City, even if the profile of the horse is quite different.
The purchase of Heartbreak City will see him forego an attempt at winning the Cesarewitch Handicap in favour of heading to Flemington.
