There are 12 Irish-trained horses among the pre-entries for the two-day Breeders' Cup meeting which takes place at Santa Anita on Friday and Saturday week, October 31st and November 1st.

Aidan O'Brien is responsible for eight of the Irish entries and they include last year's Turf winner Magician. Dermot Weld also has a strong hand with Mustajeeb in the Mile and Tarfasha in the Fillies & Mare Turf.

Other interesting European entries include Aktabantay (Hugo Palmer) and Commemorative (Charles Hills) in the Juvenile Turf, Osaila (Richard Hannon) and Qualify (Aidan O'Brien) in the Juvenile Fillies' Turf, Fiesolana (Willie McCreery), Dank (Sir Michael Stoute) and Just The Judge (Charles Hills) in the Fillies & Mare Turf, Flintshire (Andre Fabre) and Telescope (Sir Michael Stoute) in the Turf, Anodin (Freddy Head) and Toronado (Richard Hannon) in the Mile, and the Jamie Osborne-trained Toast Of New York in the Classic.

Some of the home team stars expected to shine over the weekend are Kentucky Derby and Preakness winner California Chrome, undefeated Pacific Classic and Awesome Again Stakes winner Shared Belief, Belmont Stakes and Jockey Club Gold Cup winner Tonalist, and Haskell and Pennsylvania Derby winner Bayern.

The final fields and post positions will be announced next Monday, October 27th.
