MARTIN Nee from Doonreaghan, Cashel, Co Galway, is a well-known breeder of Connemara Ponies, especially the hardy Cashel type which originated in this beautiful landscape surrounded by black-faced mountain sheep running in their natural environment. Martin rears, breeds and sells ponies anywhere he can, and he is seen at Connemara shows all over Ireland.

Martin and his wife Mary have two sons, Noel and John, and two daughters, Christina and Mary Teresa, who is secretary at Cashel show. They all have Connemara ponies. John works extremely hard helping out at various Society events throughout the year. Martin’s grandson, Ronan (12) carries on his grandfather’s love of Sean-nos Dancing and is an All Ireland Dance Champion.
