EQUESTRIAN enthusiasts are well and truly spoiled for choice this June bank holiday weekend with top fixtures being staged by Tattersalls for their bumper International Horse Trials, while the Fagan family have once again pulled out all the stops to make the 2017 Mullingar International Horse Show a huge success (see A59).

Both events are huge fixtures on Ireland’s equestrian calendar and steadily improve year on year. This year Tattersalls hosts a leg of the FEI Nations Cup which brings that extra edge to the excitement. Big crowds will descend on the Ratoath venue today (Saturday) for the main cross-country action with an estimated 30,000 visitors through the gates by the end of the action on Sunday. Meanwhile, another 20,000 people will visit Mullingar Equestrian Centre for their two-star four-day international show, celebrating its 10th anniversary this year, with the highlight event Monday’s Grand Prix.
