TWO exceptionally well-bred maiden winners recently are connected to Dermot Weld, but in different ways. The €2 million yearling purchase Tocco D’Amore (translates as Touch Of Love) made an impressive start to her racing career when running out a six-length winner of a 10-furlong maiden at Naas.

Bred by Miss Pat O’Kelly’s Kilcarn Stud and now racing in the colours of Moyglare Stud, this three-year-old daughter of Raven’s Pass is out of the Sadler’s Wells mare Spirit Of Tara. It is hard to believe that she started at 9/1 and this classic-engaged filly will most likely make the step up to Group 3 class for her next outing.
